FAQ

Common questions about ordering, testing, shipping and handling. If yours isn’t answered here, the details on each product page go further.

Before you order

What does “research use only” actually mean?

Everything listed here is supplied for in-vitro and laboratory research. These are not medicines, foods or supplements. They have not been assessed by the TGA, they are not intended to diagnose or treat anything, and they are not for human or veterinary use. Placing an order is you confirming that is what you are buying them for.

We say this in a lot of places on purpose. It is the condition the whole catalog is sold under, not fine print at the bottom of it.

Who can buy from Pure Amino?

Anyone in Australia who is 18 or over and is buying for laboratory research. You do not need to be at an institution and we do not ask for credentials — a private lab, a university group and an independent researcher all order the same way.

We ship within Australia only. We do not forward parcels overseas or to freight forwarders.

Do I need an account?

No. Guest checkout is a complete checkout — nothing is held back for account holders.

What an account adds is a place for things to live afterwards: your order history and invoices, saved delivery addresses, store credit, and the ability to leave a review on something you bought. If you order as a guest and make an account later with the same address, we can attach that order to it.

Something I want isn’t listed. Can you source it?

Often, yes. Use the suggest-a-peptide prompt at the bottom of the catalog. Requests go straight onto the list we work through when deciding what to assay and stock next, and popular ones move up it quickly.

We will tell you honestly if something is not going to happen — some compounds we will not carry, and a request is not a promise.

Can I see what a compound is before I buy it?

Each product page carries the compound details we can stand behind: the sequence, the molar mass and the storage conditions, taken from the lot in stock rather than from a reference table. Where a figure is not published it is because we have not verified it for that lot, not because it was left out.

The published certificate for the lot sits on the same page under Lab Results.

Testing and certificates

How do I know what I received is what the label says?

We do not run the assays ourselves. Every lot goes to an independent laboratory, which reports identity and purity, and we publish that certificate before the lot goes on sale — so you can read it before you buy rather than after.

Certificates are on the Lab Results page and on each product page.

What is not on the certificate?

Identity and purity are the whole of it. A certificate does not establish sterility, endotoxin load, residual solvent, or fitness for any particular experiment — and it is not evidence of biological activity.

If your work depends on any of those, the certificate is a starting point and not an answer. Test for what your protocol actually requires.

Is every batch tested, or just the first one?

Every lot. A certificate belongs to the specific lot it was cut from, which is why a restock of something you have bought before carries a new document rather than the old one. If the lot changes while a size is on the shelf, the certificate on the page changes with it.

The purity figure is a percentage. Percentage of what?

Chromatographic purity — the proportion of the detected material that is the named compound, by peak area. It is a statement about the composition of the powder, not about how much powder is in the vial.

The remainder is typically process-related: closely eluting synthesis by-products, residual counter-ion and water. It is not a measure of anything harmful having been added.

What if my own testing disagrees with the certificate?

Tell us, and send the data. That is exactly the case the seven-day window exists for, and a genuine identity or purity mismatch is a replacement or a refund — not a discussion about restocking fees.

Please include the lot, the method and the conditions. Assays disagree for ordinary reasons and knowing how yours was run is what lets us tell a real discrepancy from a difference in method.

Handling, storage and reconstitution

How should I store the vials?

Lyophilised powder keeps best at −20 °C, desiccated and away from light. Sealed and cold, that is a long shelf life measured in years for most compounds rather than months.

Short holds at 2–8 °C are fine — the powder does not need to go straight into a freezer the moment it arrives.

My parcel arrived at room temperature. Is it ruined?

Almost certainly not. Lyophilised peptide is stable in transit and does not need a cold chain to survive a few days in a satchel — the cold packing we use is there to keep it comfortably inside its margins, not because it is on the edge of them.

It is once a vial is reconstituted that temperature starts to matter quickly.

How do I reconstitute a vial?

Add your chosen diluent slowly down the inside wall of the vial rather than directly onto the powder, and let it dissolve on its own. Do not shake it — peptides are mechanically fragile in solution and vigorous agitation is a good way to denature what you just paid for. A gentle swirl, or simply time, is enough.

The right diluent and the right concentration depend on the compound and on what you are doing with it. We supply bacteriostatic water because it is what most protocols call for, but we do not prescribe your method.

How long does a reconstituted vial last?

Far less time than the powder. In solution and refrigerated, most compounds are usable for a matter of weeks rather than months, and some considerably less. Bacteriostatic water extends that over sterile water by suppressing microbial growth; it does not stop the peptide itself degrading.

Repeated freeze–thaw cycles are the fastest way to lose material. Aliquot once, into single-use volumes, rather than returning the same vial to the freezer.

Do you sell the diluent?

Yes — bacteriostatic water is in the catalog, and the checkout will remind you if there is none in your cart. It is the one thing people most often notice they are missing after the parcel has already gone out.

Shipping and delivery

What does shipping cost?

Express tracked with Australia Post is $12, and it is free once your goods reach $200. That threshold is measured on the goods themselves — before any promotion code, store credit or bank-transfer discount is applied — so paying less for the same basket never pushes it back under the line.

How long will it take to arrive?

From Victoria, express is typically 1–2 business days to Victoria, 2–3 to New South Wales, the ACT, South Australia, Queensland and Tasmania, 3–4 to Western Australia and 3–5 to the Northern Territory. Standard runs a few days longer at each destination.

Those are Australia Post estimates in business days, not guarantees. The table on the home page has the full breakdown.

When does my order actually leave?

Orders placed before 3pm on a business day leave the same day. After that, or on a weekend or public holiday, they go out the next business day.

Two things change that: a pre-order line, which holds the whole parcel until it lands, and a bank transfer, which does not ship until the payment has been confirmed.

What will the parcel look like?

Plain, unmarked and rigid. Nothing on the outside names the contents, the compound or the category, and the sender is not identifiable from the packaging.

The invoice is emailed rather than enclosed.

Can I track it?

Yes. The Australia Post tracking number is emailed the moment the parcel ships, and it is saved to your account if you have one. Tracking can take a few hours to show its first scan — a number that looks inactive on the same day is normal.

Do you ship outside Australia?

No. We ship domestically only, and we do not send to freight forwarders.

Payment, discounts and credit

Which payment methods do you take?

Cards (Visa and Mastercard), the wallets your device offers at checkout, and direct bank transfer. Card details are entered into our payment processor’s own form and never reach us — we store an opaque reference against your order and nothing else.

How does paying by bank transfer work?

You choose it at checkout and the account details, the amount and a payment reference appear on the spot. You send the transfer from your own banking app, then press I have paid.

The reference is the whole mechanism — it is what ties a line on a bank statement to your order. Without it we may not be able to match your payment, and the order will sit unshipped.

Your stock is reserved from the moment the order is placed. A member of our team confirms the transfer against the account, you get an email when they have, and it is packed and posted after that. Transfers usually clear the next business day.

Why is bank transfer cheaper?

It costs us less to accept, and that saving is passed on rather than kept. The discount is applied automatically when you choose the option — there is no code.

The trade is time: a card settles instantly and ships the same day, while a transfer waits on the money arriving and being checked.

Do you discount larger quantities?

Yes, and it applies automatically. Two vials take 5% off, three take 10%, and four or more take 15%.

The tiers count vials of the same product — four different compounds is four single vials, not a 15% order. Mixing sizes of the same compound does count.

What is store credit and how do I earn it?

Every paid order accrues 5% of its total as credit on your account, which you can spend on any later order. It needs an account to land in — a guest order has nowhere to accrue to.

Credit and a promotion code cannot be combined on one order. If you apply both, the credit wins, because it is money you already hold.

Can I use more than one promotion code?

One per order. Redeeming a code hides the entry field, so if you are holding two, remove the first to compare the second.

Is there a discount for a first order?

Yes — 10% off, and the code is emailed to you when you sign up for it. It is redeemable once, on a first order, as a code at checkout.

Do I get an invoice?

An itemised receipt is emailed as soon as the order is confirmed. If you have an account, every order also has a printable invoice under Orders — useful where a lab needs a document for reimbursement.

Pure Amino is not registered for GST, so no GST is charged and the document is an invoice rather than a tax invoice. It says so on its face.

Stock and pre-orders

A size shows as Pre-Order. What does that mean?

The stock is not on the shelf yet, but a supply order for it has been placed and you are reserving a unit from it. You pay now and it ships when the shipment lands and has been assayed.

The important consequence is that a pre-order line holds the whole parcel. If the rest of your cart is in stock, it waits for the pre-ordered item rather than shipping separately — so if you want the in-stock items now, order them on their own.

Something is sold out. Will it come back?

Usually. Use the notify prompt on the product page and we will email you when that size is orderable again — it is a single message about that one size, not a mailing list.

Why is a size listed but not orderable?

A size can be withdrawn while a lot is being re-assayed, or while we are waiting on a certificate for a new one. We would rather show that a size exists and is unavailable than sell something whose paperwork is not finished.

Problems, returns and refunds

Something arrived damaged or wrong. What now?

Tell us within 7 days of delivery at feedback@pureamino.com.au, with your order reference and clear photographs of the parcel and the vial.

That covers transit damage, the wrong item, and anything that does not match the identity and purity on its certificate. Once verified we will replace it or refund it, and refunds go back to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.

Please do not post anything back before we ask. Returns are authorised first and we will send instructions if one is needed.

Can I return something I simply changed my mind about?

No. These are temperature-sensitive research materials and we cannot verify how a vial has been handled once it has left us, so change-of-mind returns are not accepted.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply regardless of anything we say here, and nothing on this page limits them — see Returns & Refunds.

My parcel has not arrived. What should I do?

Check the tracking first — most late parcels are in transit rather than lost. If tracking has not moved for several business days, or it says delivered and it is not there, email us with your order reference and we will open an enquiry with Australia Post and sort it out from our end.

Can I change or cancel an order after placing it?

If it has not shipped, email us straight away with your order reference and we will do what we can — a change of address before dispatch is usually straightforward.

Once a parcel is with the courier it cannot be recalled, and once a bank transfer has been confirmed the order is in the same queue as any other paid one.

Your account and privacy

Can I leave a review?

On anything you have bought and had delivered, yes. Reviews are tied to a shipped order rather than being open to anyone, which is what keeps them worth reading.

Reviews show your first name and whether the purchase was verified — never your email or your order history.

What do you do with my data?

The short version: we collect what an order needs, we do not sell it, and we do not send marketing you did not ask for. Card numbers never reach us at all.

Order records are kept for five years because Australian tax law requires business records to be. The full detail, including who else necessarily sees your address, is in the Privacy Policy.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, from the account page. Your profile, saved addresses and reviews go; paid orders are kept as financial records but are stripped of the person who placed them — the name, address, email and phone are cleared while the amounts and dates remain.
